To self publish is to take control of your destiny as a writer
53Self Publishing may be for you
What is your goal as a writer? Mine is to entertain and make money with the one talent that comes natural to me (besides parenting and being a husband).
Most would be writers I know hope one day their works will be on the shleves of the biggest boostores along with the likes of Stephen King, Sandra Brown, and Michael Crichton. Most of them hope to make money writing some day.
The biggest bookstore in the United States is Amazon.com and is also one of the largest in the world. Others may also include Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Barnes & Noble.
These are the dream bookstores most writers want their books sold through. The fact is, if you place a well crafted book, well edited and presented in these book stores it will sell. A few positive reviews and the writer may actually receive a few decent paydays.
Some self publsihiing houses can get you there. You may have to do some work by editing, finding a decent editor (Can even be a few good friends). Design your own cover and so on.
Then if you are ready and have about $500 saved up, you may be on yur way to a happy career as a self publishing guru.
Why not put the time and effort to properly self publish rather than wait rejection after rejection, year after year as your manuscript gathers dust and you are maybe working your 5th novel?
I say do the homework, bite the bullet and make the leap of faith. SELF PUBLSIH.
